finished screen

I finished my projection screen. It was a very messy endeavor, but I'm pleased with the results. The screen is composed of a front layer of rosco grey rear projection screen adhered to a piece of 1/4" acrylic. The image really looks great, the images below don't do them justice. Anyways, that's all for today I think... no more updates until I get all the parts in to make my new lights.

Hey Mikey,
I'm left confused... :P

Tim Roth at nui says Rear DI is not possible with Rosco Grey...

Can you share your experiences with DI actually performing (not as a projection screen but as a diffuser)...Tim says you got it to work with lots IR light...

Thanks for your hardwork experimenting and saving others a lot of dough... Executing the whole idea behind the internet.... Everybody shares the cost of research :)

There are pros and cons to using Rosco for DI. The pro is that it can block ambient infrared well. The con of course is the thickness, which makes it hard for a camera to see reflected IR light. The key is to use a lot of light. I see many people using one small light or a few LEDs to get theirs to work. With my multitouch cabinet, I'll be using approx 20 lights with 21 ir leds in each.

I'm going to use 2140 LEDS illuminators?

Will they suffice?

that is 2X 140

I have no idea if that will work. There are so many variables when building a DI table. It all comes down to doing your own testing.

Now I feel like a pro!

Hey Nora,
That's great news. Wish I had news to post about my multitouch stuff. 5 more weeks left in my internship... then I should be able to get back to work :)
